Be Inspired

Find Your Voice

Singing can help you feel good about yourself. It is a great way to increase confidence and boost self-esteem. Singing has a wide range of health benefits and is an excellent way to encourage children and young people to make a positive contribution to their communities. It encourages us to become more confident and articulate, to have faith in our ability and to become more culturally and creatively diverse. Whatever the ability or age range, every child can sing and most have a natural enthusiasm for singing. It's a matter of taking part and enjoying it.

From singing in class, choirs, bands and school plays to singing to the radio; from singing to a computer game to experimenting with rap lyrics and beatbox sounds, there are countless opportunities to encourage children of all ages.

Make Some Music

Music has the power to transform young people's lives, to build confidence, self-esteem and enjoyment. From picking up an instrument at school, to learning how to mix music on a computer; from jamming with friends in a homemade band to performing in an orchestra; the opportunities to learn instruments from the conventional to the unconventional can open up a world of expression and creativity.

Move Your Body

Singing or playing instruments are not the only routes through music - you can always dance! Dance has seen a huge growth in popularity over the last few years with a wide range of dance schools and activities available both in and out of school.

Dance can change and enrich young people's lives, whether it is for fun, to develop skills and an understanding in dance, keep physically active or train to become a dance professional. From street dance to ballet, there are a host of activities for children and young people across the arts, community, youth and education sectors.

What Else Is There?

The answer? So much more. You've mastered your instrument and tried musical theatre, sound engineering, and lyric-writing? Have a go at DJ-ing, interpreting film scores, experimenting digitally, reviving old recordings of genres popular in the past, composing a melody, expressing yourself through dance. Once you think you've tried everything, pick up a new instrument and start a new musical journey. Music is all around us, the musical spectrum is vast. It infiltrates our lives to the extent that it becomes second nature. Musical terms enter our conversations without us even noticing, and careers involving music are numerous.

N-Dubz
We started with two bell-drive turntables, and a mixer, a mic and a tape recorder. At the time we were about 11 or 12, and we made our first record and nine years down the line here we are. If you put your mind to it you can do anything you want.
